This gives "the media" an opportunity to add value.

In CNET News's live stream, Erica Ogg made a point of saying that Greg Sandoval already covered the ringtone news - an old media thing to do

AppleInsider used images from Engadget and Gizmodo... smart to pool resources like that. Very collegial!

Even at 10:30, Google BlogSearch had absolutely ZERO links to live-blog coverage. This is why Google is so worried about Twitter and FB.

During the last 36 minutes of the announcement, Twitter recorded 12,864 Tweets on the topic of Apple -- a great case for monitoring tools.

The WSJ's live-blog coverage was the slowest we saw... lagged between five and nine minutes from real-time. And we had to refresh the page.
