SWMS Editorial Teleconference: Preston Gralla, Computerworld

SWMS Editorial Teleconference
Preston Gralla, contributing editor
Computerworld
November 2009

Preston Gralla is a no-nonsense, straightforward guy. He ran PC Week’s first copy desk and never wastes a word. So when pitching him — either for Computerworld or PC World — have your dream headline in mind. Don’t expect him to run with it as is. But he will salute you for approaching the headline with such reverence. Though he’s known as a “Windows” blogger, Preston will consider reviewing products other than from Microsoft. Just be sure they’re not too complex: Preston works out of his home and his set-up is limited.

Our Chat with Computerworld EIC Scot Finnie

SWMS Editorial Teleconference: Patrick Thibodeau, senior editor, Computerworld

Patrick Thibodeau, senior editor
Computerworld
August 2009

We’ve been interviewing editors for almost a decade as part of the SWMS editorial teleconference series and we can’t recall a more lucid, realistic discussion than the one you’re about to read. For PR, Computerworld has long been a tough edit nut to crack. In so many words, Pat Thibodeau explains why. His are the editorial values that are sailing out the window. We’ll miss them.
